This is how I do it.

Ammo seems to be pretty resilient and is far from perishable.

GI cans or Cabelas style dry boxes --> Dump ammo in --> Store inside the house = done deal

After reading this thread I think I need some more silicone grease though...give 'em a once over...just because.

Being an auto tech, sil-glyde is the the "silly"cone based stuff I use. Works on everything from lubing brake parts to the seal on my two ammo cans!

I only own one .50cal and one 5.56 ammo can. The bulk ammo I buy comes in vacuum sealed spam cans. Pistol ammo is really the only thing I buy in cardboard boxes anymore. So one stores pistol ammo, the other is for range ammo.

I wanted to at least put my Aimpoint T1 in a Faraday cage. Can you tell me how to set it up?

How does one turn an ammo can into a Faraday cage?

Oh. They're pretty much already one stock. If you're really that worried about it maybe some tin foil around the entire assembly just as a double-shield.

I thought you had to place your item inside, making sure it doesn't touch the sides, top, or bottom of the can. I also understood that in order to "dissipate" the EMP effect, you had to somehow "connect" the lid to the rest of the can (by placing tinfoil around the top of the can or something).

    Right or wrong?

I thought at one point an Aimpoint Rep posted that the optics would not be affected by an EMP? Maybe I dreamed that one up...
