    With water or straight up?

    I have HB issues too, used to absolutely love hot food. The hotter the better. End result HB. I now take Omeprazole as needed but have tried them all

    ACV and Omeprazole do the opposite effect. Theory is not enough acid is slowing digestion and backing up the GI system. I ate a steak last night with "Slap Yo Momma" spice mix on it. Drank 2 beers. If I got heartburn a tiny taste will end the HB.

    ACV may or may not fight cancers. IMO an eye dropper might be a good way to dose.

    I'm more concerned about cholesterol. I never had an issue with cholesterol but last year's blood results (which I never followed up on) had my total cholesterol levels at 260, which is high. A test two weeks ago showed total 225, which is borderline leaning towards high with LDL @ 150 (lower end of high spectrum). So I tweaked my died. Added fish and more chicken, cut out red meat by 90% along with cheese and cured meats. Added beans, more whole wheat, Benecol, dark greens, more garlic, avocados,.....all of which help lower cholesterol. So if ACV helps as well, even if it's a few % points I'll be willing to give it a shot

    My doctor told me diet helps in 12% of the cases. My bad was at 300 or so back in the day. 100 (IIRC) is the target. I was taking simvastin and it dropped to 88. I quit taking it and was doing some high dollar supplements ex-wife was selling. No diet change. Lots of bacon steak burgers etc. I went to 98. I quit taking lisinopryl for my blood pressure too! No need! I quit taking that stuff due to costs. April last year just taking 1500mg of L-Arginine before eating with my morning coffee I was at 128. I need to add to that with fish oil and other things and get retested. I'm still doing that every morning. I had no idea on the cholesterol thing with ACV. Thanks, I will research that. Walmart has the ACV pills. They fly off the shelf quick. Last time I was getting some they had them out in the aisle freestanding. I take 3 a day.

    I have a sneaking suspicion that statins permanently screwed up my lower intestinal functions. They ARE linked to Alzheimers. My dad has it bad. Yet still on the statins. He's 87.

    Much has changed on the cholesterol front fellows. The inflammation of the arteries due to sugar and simple carbohydrates is the problem, not the cholesterol. Cholesterol is essential for things like building cells, keeping your brain healthy and making testosterone.

    I take a tablespoon of Bud Light for the same purposes. Just mix it into the oatmeal.

    That's what my mother's dealing with decades' worth of with right now (albeit not the smoking and drinking)--you'd swear she goes into angina if you so much as look at her crosseyed. Surprisingly, though, other than blood pressure and BMI, her numbers are more like a person half her weight. I keep trying to nudge her (she dropped pounds REAL fast when on a low-residue diet before the hysterectomy and for a bit after), but she's gotta have her sugar-loaded pastries and junk food...

    I don't eat sweets. An occasional ice cream or piece of cake at a party. I almost never eat carbs. Not because I don't like them but because i prefer meat. Carbs fill you up quick and leave little room for tasty meat. Once in a while I'll have a piece of potato, a little bit of sweet potatoe or a small amount of pasta. We're talking once every few months. I can't remember the last time I ate bread.... so I don't order sandwiches (too much bread with no taste and not enough meat). I haven't drank soda since I was a kid and I don't do fast food. My daily meals were....

    Breakfast
    2 eggs
    1/4 avocado
    1 serving of tuna

    Lunch
    Some kind of meat
    Salad (no dressing usually)
    Piece of fruit

    Dinner
    Same as lunch minus the fruit.

    Snaks
    Plain yogurt
    Fruit
    Mixed nuts
    Slice of cheese
    -of course not all at the same time

    No where in there is a lot of sugar or any carbs.
    I don't order out and cook everything myself. I make several dishes of meat and salads for the whole week and then just mix and match.

    I've never had high cholesterol or high blood pressure up until my last blood test about 6 months ago. I do however smoke and drink (not to be confused with alcoholism).
    Doctor said to cut down on red meat (fat), add in more fish, chicken (no skin) and whole grain foods.
