    Excellent report Andy....thanks for sharing

Appears that the barrel work didn't hamper the accuracy at all. I'd be really pleased with those results.

Shed weight + OAL while maintaining accuracy.....win, win!

The modified barrel weighs 2.976 lb and feels subjectively lighter than the factory bbl. I am planning on shooting it this weekend.

    What is the new weight?

    Why dimple vs. re-profile?

Dimpling removes less material and creates less stress on the barrel , increases the surface area for cooling. As for getting the 18 inch, the rifle length gas system really helps smooth out the rifle vs the 16inch with a carbine.

They have started to do it on F1 wheels too to increase cooling.

Is running a 16" w/ rifle-length gas ideal? I am certain that for 5.56 it is not.

Not sure of that either. The 18" barrel I have is a great deal smoother than my 16"

There are several people over at Snipers Hide who have also had great results with this set up on their MWS's. KAC has also had great success running that setup on SR-25's. Yes this type setup does not work on 5.56 gun. The ECC , ECM , M110K are all setup that way. My MWS is way over gassed with the 16inch CL. I have an 18 on order.

Good info. Do you have any links to reports on 16" w/ rifle-length gas?

    Also, do they make a chrome-lined 18" ?

Buckjay is a member on here and the hide, this is his setup. As for reports, everyone who runs this setup on their EMC ECC guns says its great and smooth. No LMT does not make CL 18inch.
