Man, with 6 kids I dont know how you have time to shoot. I have 4 and am only allowed to get away once a month . Everyone here has given solid advice. If you are not going to be doing anything more than target shooting the 10x will serve you well.

Also look at the weaver grandslam by midway. GREAT glass for the money and you get mil/mil
I seriously like my Bushnell Elite Tactical 5-15x40mm Mil-Dot Scope. It isn't the best glass I've ever used, but I don't shoot to its full capability yet. When I find my optics being my limiting factor, I'll upgrade.
SWFA is an awesome deal for the cost. Great, clear glass, repeatable knobs, solid construction and a good reticle.

I have been very pleased with my Elite Tactical 6-24x50 with the G2 reticle. I too haven't reached the limitations of the optic but feel it's quite a good optic for the money and should do what I need it to for a long time.
Nothing at all wrong with a fixed 10. I ran that for a while shooting from 100 to 1000 yards. Shoot... I'll dial other guys scopes down to 10 or 12 to shoot 1000 yards.

Me too, however, it's limiting factor is the 1" tube and lack of elevation adjustment. Even with a Leupold LR base, I only have enough "up" to get me zeroed just a hair past 800 yds with a 20" .308.

Sorry I have been MIA for a while...budget sub $400 (i know, I know...), not competing )yet), under 400 yards for the foreseeable future.

the SS is a great scope... but a 4x16 will be WAY more useful... just get the mil/mil, and not a moa/mil...
