I liked the special effects and action scenes. The ultimate message was that of the progressive socialist left.
I watched Oblivion yesterday. It was a good movie, though it was quite predictable.
Personally I thought District 9 was a horrible movie. One of the worst I've ever seen in fact. And I'm a huge sci-fi junkie. Since Neill Blomkamp was behind both movies I made it a point to avoid this one.

The whole concept of exporting resources FROM Earth to Space is already 180 degrees ass-backwards.
My brother saw Deliverance and bought a Bow. I saw Deliverance and bought an AR-15.
I have seen it twice, once at the Theater and once on cable. I thought that it was entertaining and enjoyed watching Murdock as a bad guy. I am not a big Matt Damon fan but thought he did a good job as the main character. The guns in the film and special effects were cool too.
I just looked at it as mindless entertainment and like others watched it because of the District 9 film as well. I agree and think that District 9 was a better movie. This movie reminded me of it in many ways: special effects, characters, and plot line, etc.
p.s. Steve District 9 wasn't that bad man. Did you watch the whole movie?
The "Occupy Wall Street" theme was obvious from the previews, so I steered well clear. I also hated District 9, with its 20-years-late social commentary and random detour into popcorn-flick action in the final act.
This isn't an illegal gun, it's an "undocumented protection device". Don't be so insensitive.
Matt Damon's a puss. I won't bother with any movie where he has a lead role. Just my opinion, ymmv.
I say if Matt is so hot for the have nots to have to give them everything he has.
