I've carried a folder for the last 5 years but just switched to fixed blade. I went with the Esse Izula II and really like it. It's pretty small for a fixed blade and comes with a decent kydex sheath that allows for vertical or horizontal carry. Came in around $70, and Esse seems to make quality knives that stand up to abuse.
this is my newest EDC fixed blade. the one in the black marble finish is my personal favorite at the moment. 8670 with black micarta handle. 7.5" OAL with recurve hollow ground blade.

Personally I carry a Kershaw Leek, have carried it for many years. I like how thin they are as you can pretty much forget about it in your pocket. Fast, one handed assisted deployment. I have only had to replace the spring in one of them all these years and it came free from Kershaw. Here is a pic of the two I have.

Just picked up the new Large Chris Reeve Micarta Insingo Inkosi.
