A Spyderco Endura plain edge is always tip-down clipped in pocket. If I'm going on a boat I have an Endura w/ serrated edge which cuts through dock lines, nets and other boating hazards much quicker than the previous.
I usually also carry a small CRKT M16 clipped in my waistband for opening packages and doing various other jobs that I don't want to continuously dull the edge on my primary by doing.
I used to carry a SOG Twitch XL Tanto, but the action became gritty in the environment(s) I frequent. The last straw was when the spring inside broke and rendered the knife useless unless you had two hands free to open it. I'm not blaming the knife, but I've come to prefer a manual opening knife simply because of its decreased risk of failure at an inopportune time. That being said, the new Kershaw Echelon is sexy as hell and I'd love to get one (even if I don't carry it often).
