Been using motor oil exclusively for lubrication for quite some time now. It's cheap and works perfectly.
America is not at war... The U.S. Military is at war... America is at the mall.
I love cigars!

Never tried it on my ARs; but white lithium grease has been great for my AKs - not that any particular type of lube is all that enlightening in their case.
An AK will often find itself as a "truck gun" here in the Vegas summers, and I have yet to experience any issues with the lithium grease staying put or drying out.
I used to use lithium grease on my bolt guns. It would get really tacky once you fired a few rounds suppressed and it didn't want to run fast. It would almost bind up on me. Never tried it on an AK or AR. It sounds good on paper though for summer use.

I use lithium grease. I haven't noticed a difference between high temp and standard.
I put a thin amount of grease on things that slide or are impacted (ex. bolts, carriers, hammer faces) and some light oil on things that rotate. (FCG pins, selectors, exterior surfaces) Springs will get smeared a little with grease if easy to get to, or get a drop of oil if hard to reach.
I do this will all firearms and have had no problems.
The oil I use is whatever light gun specific oil I have. But I realize it doesn't need to be.
You can lube how you want just don't do anything stupid and your guns will be happy.
Examples of stupid things to do (Any gun) :
-WD-40..
-No lube
-Lubing ammo
-Lubing chambers
-Lubing firing pins and firing pin channels (If a tiny bit of oil gets in there no big deal, but don't let crap build up in there!)
-Putting light lube inside the action and letting the gun sit for years. (Turns to varnish)
Any others?
I think the list of what NOT to do reference lubrication is much shorter than what is "fine/good" to do.
