I'm thinking about trying out a Sparc and am curious if anybody here has used or uses one on their AR and if they like ir recommend it. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Good optic for a rifle intended for square range or competition use. I don't have anything particularly negative to say about it based upon shooting other people's guns that were equipped with it.
That said, if this is for a defensive rifle, why not just save up the money for a purpose-built defensive use optic? Use the intervening time to become an expert with iron sights and weapons handling. I have found far too many people eschewing iron sights these days in favor of new-hotness optics (including myself). We seem to repeatedly tell ourselves, "Someday, I'll go back and work on irons." But we never do, right up until something happens that forces us to use them and we realize that we should have spent more time mastering them.
