1914 manufacture Colt 1911 US Army followed me home

I put it back last month at a local gun shop that I should have my paychecks direct deposited. Found this Colt US Army 1911 manufactured in 1914. It's all correct other than the grips, slide release, and magazine. It has been arsenal refinished at some point as it's no longer blued (according to Clawson's it should have been blued) It does have an interesting pattern on the wear pattern on the slide. It was caused the stud in the holster tapping against the slide.

It has a nice home in my safe and once I get my Type 2 Remington Rand home and restored it won't be lonely in the antique 1911 section.

I'm totally not jealous. At all.

    ...

Well, OK, maybe just a little.

    Or a a lot.

Gorgeous gun, especially for the age. Dare I ask what you paid for it?

The fit and finish is not perfect, but I bet it has fired more than "50 flawless rounds" also.

I'm screaming jealous as well. That's a great snag - congrats!

Great FIND!!! Very glad you got the vet. Had the HONOR a few years back to handle and fire a 1917 mfg. Colt that
had been "used" by the nice lady who owned its uncle in WW1. Documented it on film, disassembled it afterwards to clean and inspect. Shot very low for some reason, but indeed was flawless for about 50 rounds or so, including an original mag that had been loaded at least 50 years. Good on ya for your find!

It wasn't that bad as much you might expect. It helps when you spend close $10,000 a year at said gun store. Picked it up for $1,450 (but that was my price)

To me it was worth it for the history and to find a Colt from that era that hasn't been molested.
