    DD SBR

I was going to build a SBR but now I think I am going to buy my first one Pre made.

    https://danieldefense.com/rifles/dan...e-300-sbr.html

Its out of stock right now.

    1. How does this process work? Do I just go to my dealer and tell them what I want and have them order/find the gun? Or do I have to buy it direct from DD and have them ship it to the dealer?
    2. How does the paper work start? Do they have to engrave and all that?
    3. Can I get the info from him and start the sbr e-file myself or does he have to do it? I only ask because maybe he does not do E-file. But paper is ok too.
    4. After you get approved can you take your other uppers and put them on top at the range and shoot for a few hours then put the original back on? (I have a 16 in 5.56 upper) (don't want to carry 2 guns)

Thank you for any help you may give.

Back when the crazy was going on and it was/some what still hard to get I was stocking up on it for more then a year now. I have alot of the ammo already. Subs only. I work off shore and don't get to use my gun much. But when I do go to the range I shoot 200 rounds or so. I guess with 300 I would shoot about 100 or so each month. I work 28 days on 14 off. Its a good round to use with a suppressor. I all ready have a suppressor for 300 black out too. As you can see I am not really in any rush to do any of it. I'm not (Hardcore)

    1. Buying an already built SBR is done through a dealer that handles NFA items. If they don't have it in stock, then yes they'd have to order it.
    2. They submit a Form 4 on your behalf. Different than a Form 1 if you were building it. No engraving needed.
    3. No. Only SOT can eFile a Form 4.
    4. Yes and no. You can swap uppers if you want...but there's no need to do it "for a few hours then put the original back on". Leave whichever one you want on it, whether it's a short upper or not.

1 go to a class three dealer they will have you fill out a form 4, I would start by having them see of they could track one down since DD is out of stock

2 they will have a form 4 for you to fill out. You will not have to engrave it as you a buying a complete SBR from the factory, DD would have already registered it

3 you would have to find a class 3 who already does Efile

4, you can switch UPPERs all you want to a registered lower, I myself would leave them with the lowers the upper were built on personally, as for me buffer weights and springs are adjusted for the uppers

And to add to the "process", if you find it in stock somewhere else, it's transferred tax free on a Form 3 from that dealer to your local Class III dealer. The dealers will handle all of that paperwork, you just need to find one local to work with that accepts transfers. It adds 4-8 weeks to the process, and the receiving dealer may charge you a $50-$100 transfer fee, but it may be faster and/or cheaper than having the local shop order one directly.

I am 99% it is 7075T6. I can't think of anyone that makes a lower from 6061, but who knows nowadays.

DD lowers are 7075 Al - 6061 are hard to find, and are almost exclusively billet units; they can be found, but are understandably not desirable or common.
