Finished my build around a Sionics Barrel today

Raided the parts bin and bought a few things to build a rifle around this barrel. I intend for this rifle to be a range/truck/four wheeler or whatever gun. Going to slap a 10x on it this weekend to see what I can wring out accuracy wise with factory ammo and some hand loads. Thinking I am going to go with some DD fixed sights long term. The rifle shoulders and balances well. I hope I am as happy with it after I shoot it as I am now.

    Specs are as follows

Upper: Can't remember brand or where it came from.

    BCG: LMT

    Barrel: Sionics 1:8 twist midlength

    Gas Block: BCM low profile

Charging Handle: BCM Mod-the long pokey one

    Gas tube: WMD

    Handguard: 15 inch Rainier EVO

    Muzzle Device: Rainier XTC

Lower: Spikes (the penises are in spec)

LPK: PSA with my 6920's trigger group

    Buffer tube: PSA 7075

Buffer: Spikes ST-T2 from my box of parts

Stock: Rogers Super Stock today, original Vltor Modstock tomorrow.

I think you will be happy. Mine is stupid accurate. Ditch the T2 buffer and get a H3. It will run better.

Really well. Changed up the configuration a little. Running a
fixed MOE rifle stock and buffer. Very soft shooting when combined with the rainier xtc. It's also wearing some BCM marked sights. Only about 150 rounds but no failures of any kind.

Mounted a 10x bushnell and shot for accuracy. It really likes 68gr hornady bthp match on top of 25.8 gr of TAC and my bulk hornady fmj/H335 did great. Below is a 100 target with the 68's.

Interesting build. Why did you select the parts that you did?
In no way do I make any money from anyone related to the firearms industry.

I chose the barrel after reading about them in a thread here where Iraq Guns was talking about them. I really liked the barrel profile and the fact that it was a 1-8 twist. At the time I ordered it was $159
so it was an obvious choice for me. The LMT BCG is a quality piece and had been on the top shelf of my safe since early 2012. I wanted a smooth handguard and was looking for one in 12 or 13 inches. The 15 inch Rainier popped up for sale on this forum so I took a chance on it and do not regret it. I really like the MOE Rifle stock after having had one on a 20 inch rifle. The A1 length is the exact length that I run my adjustable stocks at all the time. It is simple and solid. I was planning on going with Daniel Defense fixed sights but a friend offered the BCM sights to me for $100 so that is what I ended up with. The XTC comp was in my parts box. It does a great job at what it is supposed to do but will at some point will probably get swapped out for an A2. All in all I am very happy with it. With the folding sights, and consistent height across the top thanks to the fixed stock and long handguard, it fits and rides really well in a kolpin gun rack on my four wheeler. It didn't break the bank, it's accurate, and so far very reliable. Simple but not boring. Apparently a fixed stock on a carbine is interesting because someone has asked about it each time I have had it out.
