    Benelli?

Was looking to pick up an M4 but Im not going to buy a tactical shotgun with a 4rd tube. Ive seen a couple M1 M2 M3s that seem to have full tubes on them are they exempt from the 922r? Keep hearing preban aswell some have pistol grips and full tubes? Can someone please explane to me if its possible to get a benelli with a full tube on it. Im about ready to give up and just get an fn slp.

    Thanks

This is a big headach unless the gun is a pre ban M1 you can't have more than 5 rounds. The M4 will actually hold 5 +1+1 for 7 rounds as it comes from the factory by the way. 5 in the tube one in the chamber and one on the shell carrier.

To get around 922 you either need enough us made parts (not enough yet) or you need to register it as a short barrelled shotgun and then section 922 does not apply.

Basically if the Benelli is a post July 1989 gun (can't remember the date) you can only have two of the 'evil/scary' features, one of those is default that being that it's semi-auto. If you have the rifle style stock (non-pistol grip) you can have a longer mag tube. If you have a pistol grip stock you cannot have the bigger mag tube.

Not to be a jerk but that is not correct. According to BATFE's latest statement on the issue any semi auto shotgun holding more than 5 rounds is considered non sporting regardless of rather it has a pistol grip or not. But don't despair they seem to change their official position on this issue almost daily. You are welcome to call or write them if you don't want to take my word for it however.

Interesting since the FN SLP Mark 1 shotgun is imported and comes with a 8 round capacity.....

You're right about BATFE though contradict themselves all the time.

I don't know what to say about the FN SLP that is a good point. But remember the few M4's that slipped through with full magazine tubes and collapsable stocks before ATF even said something. Hopefully the court will rule in our favor this month on the DC case which may have huge impacts on all of these stupid gun control laws.

I don't see where the problem is. 922r does not make any reference to magazine exrtension tubes.

The assault weapon ban of 94 had some restrictions of tube capacity in it, but that law died in 2004.
