    Hammer J Pin

I seem to have a hammer without the J pin installed.

Could anybody post a picture on what a J Pin looks like and is it possible for me to make, remove and install the J Pin myself.

Where did you get a hammer w/o a "J" spring? I could be wrong, but I don't think you can buy them separately. So unless I am wrong you will need to get a new hammer.

Actually, I took the hammer from a scrap m16a1 lower. I finally noticed that the J pin was missing when the hammer pin walked out on me when we were doing our monthly proficiency training

Thanks for the pics. As I understand the J pin is staked or dented into place. Is there a particular way to do this.

If the J pin was missing, what caused it to fall out? Maybe something is no longer good with the hammer. I don't think I would trust that used hammer for more than target shooting again.

Just buy a new hammer (ensuring it was complete with J pin) and have peace of mind.
