I have two reasons for considering the A2 stock and rifle buffer.

    1. I remember reading that the rifle buffer is the most forgiving and reliable of all the setups. Better than the various carbine buffers.

Has anyone else besides Demigod heard that too? Is it true?

    2. I actually like the A2 stock better than the collapsible stock.

Then there's your answer. Most shooters like the adjustable nature of the CAR stock. But if you like the A2, that's the way to go.

Thanks. Just to be clear, is the A2/rifle buffer more reliable? Why?

I don't know for sure, but I do think it's more forgiving. Because it's longer and allows a longer travel it can be softer as well.

I'm still not sure what the downsides would be of running a standard CAR buffer in the carbine stock though. It sounds like you're only running powder-puff loads in the gun and even if you ran higher pressure loads it would take thousands of them before you saw any ill effect on the gun.
