Lots of good info in there about DD irrespective of the OPs issue.
Glad I went with the 6945. Good info on that thread. Thanks.

Glad somebody mentioned it and I found one. Definitely going to be running suppressed and I won't be feeding it Wolf / Tula or any other crap.

I do have one question, I really haven't kept up on the whole ammo / twist rate issue. If I shoot Lake City 55 gr. ammo am I going to have any problems?

I then called all of my wholesalers looking for a 6943, or at least a 6945, and discovered Colt is up to shenanigans again. Turns out for NFA weapons like SBRs Colt is requiring a PD letterhead for purchase. This is why 80% of my wholesalers no longer offer Colt SBRs like 6933s and those who show them as simply "out of stock" explained they won't be getting any more.

To quote one long time supplier "Colt has simply become a pain in the ass with respect to SBRs so we dropped them." Basically Colt has gone "agency only" with respect to SBRs or if I have a authorized letter for purchase I can special order one kind of like what is needed for post sample machine guns.

Of course some suppliers such as SAW seem to be exempt for some reason, but they aren't exactly a FFL wholesaler either. There are a few other places that are somehow getting them and reselling without a LE love letter and I found a 6945 close enough to dealer price that I just grabbed it since I don't think Colt SBRs are going to get easier to obtain in the future.

I think the DDMK18 will always be there if I want one for some reason, and whileI'm sure it isn't difficult, I wasn't crazy about the idea of having to swap gas ports to make the damn thing run right. Too bad DD can't just start making them correctly to begin with, it would have been an easy no brainer purchase for me and everyone of my customers who comes looking for a Mk18 type rifle.

At any rate, I have another Colt in the stable, or at least I will when it gets here. Thanks to everyone for getting me caught up and current. In several months I'll be back asking annoying questions like "what light mount is that" and such.
I just purchased a 6945 complete upper, the price was right, I got it to go along with my 901. I'd be interested to hear how it shoots and your impressions? Cheers

I have a CQBR build with a SAW Colt 10.3 1/7 barrel and have had 0 issues with 55gr in terms of accuracy. I did get one of the batches of hot Independence 55 gr and got some nasty pressure swatches so I shot the rest of that out of my middie with no issues. On another note I do recommend at least trying an H3 buffer, it mellowed my Colt out a bit. I'm not sure of the gas port size, ( I think Ken Elmore spec'd this barrel from the Colt factory ) but the H3 works great.

While I would agree that my MK18 upper is over gassed, I haven't noticed much of an issue running suppressed with over 1k rounds down the pipe. Everything from wolf to 855.

What buffer were you running before the H3?
