    Engraving

I just E-filed my first form 1 (Smith and Wesson M&P15). I think I was confused about the engraving process. For some reason I thought I did not need to engrave anything, but now I am not so sure.

Will this be required? I assume if it is and I did not engrave anything my form will be rejected?

You need to engrave. ATF has no idea what you have or have not engraved, so if your form is filled out correctly and there are no issues that would otherwise prevent you from having an SBR, you're fine.

As above. How would they know?

The law requires name, city, state. I suppose you might have a problem in the unlikely event you ever actually ever ran into an ATF agent and he wanted to inspect your rifle, but my experience with ATF agents strongly suggests that very few of them actually know anything about NFA regulations anyway. As to local las enforcement, the vast majority are even less aware.

Why not use the search feature or better yet, read the stickies that people spent time putting together.
