Sounds like you have it all figured out then......what input were you expecting? It's an HK so it's going to work.

I am not sure, the ones that were issued which are more or less flush; not like the extended plates for your pinky on the sk mags. Hope that helps.

turn in those mags to your FI, and get new ones.
Is this an issue that just seems to affect the P2k mags, or other HK pistols as well? I haven't had issues with my 45C mags, but I'll have to stay on the lookout now.

I'm issued a P2000. I prefer the P30 also. The grip is just that much for me.
On another note, a little late to the thread but I saw questions about the P2000 mags. They have plastic base plates and offered rubber base plates also. Our indoor range is a concrete floor and you would think the rubber base mags were better for longevity when dropping them. Everyday at the range I see the rubber base plates bounce off the floor and move forward on the mag body. The mag won't seat again until you lock it back in. Seen it hundreds of times. We have a few thousand P2000 mags in service. I've never seen a plastic base break. David
