    Geissele Reaction Rod Compatibility

Has anybody had an issue with a Reaction Rod not fitting into their barrel extension? I tried to install a new Sionics LW barrel tonight and couldn't get its barrel extension to fit over the lugs of my Reaction Rod. I haven't had this happen on any other installs before and was wondering if anyone else has seen this.

I did try inserting a BCG while the barrel was in the upper receiver and it didn't have any issue locking.

Some barrels extensions fit very tightly or not at all. Most fit.

We use the Reaction Rod at the shop all the time. Not sure why this isn't working for you. We also built two rifles in my Ft. Worth area class with the same barrel.

This is a longshot here but could the extension be out of spec for some reason?

I'm not sure why it won't work either. I've used it on DD, Odin, BCM, an older Sionics barrel, and PSA barrel without any issues. It looks like the lugs of the Reaction Rod are too large though since the corners of it show a bit of wear from me trying to push the extension over them.

You wouldn't say there's an issue with my barrel extension though right?

I wouldn't think so. Like I said we use the RR quite a bit and if the BCG locks up correctly I don't see it as an issue.

I've only run across one barrel that an RR wouldn't fit, it was a no name barrel that some guy brought to the IG class I was in. I guess it happens every once in a while.

Have you possibly dinged one of the lugs on the RR? If it gets dropped on the end and one of the lugs gets distorted, it may not fit. I had this happen with a KAC barrel extension tool that was poorly packaged for shipping.
