    Disconnector spring tension

Most spring kits include a lighter spring for the disconnector. How does a lighter disconnector spring help to lighten the trigger pull weight? It looks like the only function of the spring is to make sure the disconnector catches the hammer so it can reset. Once the hammer and sear have reset the disconnector is pretty much not doing anything to make the trigger harder to pull. So why the lighter disconnect spring?

Am I missing something? Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Lighter reset is a part of the whole firing cycle.

The reset happens after you pull the trigger. Still do not see how a lighter disconnector spring would help to lighten the actual trigger pull.

    Please enlighten me further.

    Thanks

It won't. It makes a follow up shot less disrupted. I think you need to be a trigger gay to appreciate it. I'm content with a USGI trigger as long as it doesn't feel like it's filled with sand.

In many two stage triggers, the disconnector is actually what creates the additional resistance that is the second stage.

So on a single stage trigger the lighter disconnector spring would not really be of much help but you are saying that on a two stage it would be of benefit to make the second stage break sooner and lighter?

Enlighten me further if I am not correct.

    Thanks

It lightens the resistance of reset. Nothing more...
