What are looking for in quality?

I shoot 45 by the case and have had exactly two bad rounds in the past ten years. Both Tula cases that didn't have a rim.

I think Federal American Eagle and WWB is about as good as it gets. I've shot Federal GMM, unless you're shooting from a rest, you'll likely never see the accuracy difference.

Wolf has been 100% reliable, as has everything else...

What sort of "Premiumness" are you looking for in a cartridge?

Reliability? Most failure to fire malfunctions are from dud primers. There isn't one brand of primer that is more inherently reliable than the next. Some primers are softer, which makes a difference if you want to change around the springs in your gun, but a factory sprung gun shouldn't have problems with any of the major american brands. Even that premium ammo is just going to using a primer they bought from a major manufacturer. Squib rounds are rare even in the most mass produced ammo.

Accuracy? That's a trail and error thing as your gun is an individual.

Consistency? All ammo changes from batch to batch because there is no perfect consistent powder or primers.

Costs more? That's a fairly easy recommendation that has already been covered.
