    La Rue Rail Removal

I purchased an upper from BCM with a La Rue rail installed. I'd like to swap the La Rue rail with a spare DD rail I have and reuse the La Rue on a different upper at a later time.

However, I can't remove the handguard nut that attaches the rail to the barrel nut. Instead I tore my strap wrench. I've installed a La Rue rail before and I didn't have this much trouble removing the handguard nut when I was aligning the rail. Is there anything peculiar about BCM's installation of the rail or anything I could do to loosen the handguard nut?

Did you make sure to unscrew the two bolts that hold the handguard nut onto the handguard?

Could it have been loctited? Were you spinning it the right way?

It's probably just tight. They do not use Loc-tite or anything strange.

I believe so; counter-clockwise, correct? I hope I didn't have a brain fart and miss something obvious.

I was using a strap wrench from Harbor Freight. The rubber flaked off and never seemed to get a grip on the nut. Is there a more resilient one with a better grip that you suggest?
