Attempt at trumping first build. Second AR on the way.

I am currently working on my second build. My goal is to build a higher quality and different caliber platform.

Here are the specs from my last build:
    Lower: Spikes Tactical
    Upper: BCM 16" carbine
    Parts Kit: Daniel Defense
    FCG: Geissele SSA
    Buffer: H2
    Buffer tube: BCM mil spec
    Stock: Magpul CTR
    Grip: BCM Gunfighter
    Handguard: Daniel Defense Omega 7
    BUIS: Troy Industries
    Bolt Carrier: BCM
    Charging handle: BCM Gunfighter Medium
    Muzzle device: Griffin Armament MS4D
    Light: Surefire m300
    Foregrip: Magpul AFG
    Optic: Aimpoint PRO
    Magnifier: EOtech G23

    Parts currently acquired:
    S&W stripped lower
    Noveske Chainsaw upper receiver.

    Plans:

I am thinking about building a 6.5 Grendel. However, I can not find any barrels in stock that I like. I would like a "black" one and not a stainless steel. So far that is all I have come up with and opinions and advice are appreciated.

18AUG14 The lighting makes the upper and lower look 2 different colors. Under normal lighting situations, they look the same.

My advice would be to go with a SBR vs different caliber.

If you're making barrel choices based on color, you're doing it wrong. Buy the most performance you can. On my SPR upper I used a Bartlien cut rifled barrel with a matched bolt. Easily the most accurate AR i've ever shot. Barrel came to me from Compass Lake bead blasted stainless. A Cerakote kit from Brownells and a cheapo airbrush it was a nice flat black.

I can't. I live in a different state than my DL and I may be moving again soon.

Sounds like a good idea. I dont like the look of SS. I have been looking at Satern barrels lately aling with JP.
