Nope, I'm a "cold war" kid and somehow AKs in 5.56 and ARs in 7.62x39 / 5.45x39 are just wrong.
And if I really need a big, clumsy AR carbine I can also go with a .308.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.
Chuck, we miss ya man.

Grant,
I would buy it as long as I could set it up to run suppressed well. I wish they could have found a way to design a bolt hold open device though. The advantages of an AR type set up are to numerous to list for a 7.62x39 rifle that uses AK mags, and as far as I'm aware, I won't be able to acquire a Sako M92 or AK-12 anytime soon.
I'm curious as to how the buffer and spring are set up, and what mods would be needed to run suppressed. A piston version of this rifle would be even more desirable IMHO, in the same manner as the HK416 is set up. I just fear we'll see bolts cracking at less than 3000 rounds on this gun and other durability issues. I guess what I really want then is a SCAR-H modified to take AK mags
I'd probably buy a .300BLK upper and a reloading setup before I'd buy this gun. It's certainly interesting and a cool historical footnote, but I can't see myself spending that much for a heavy gun with oddball functionality. Of course I only own one 7.62x39 AK, a WASR 10 that I bought mainly for plinking with cheap steel cased ammo.
I want one, just not sure if I want it for $2k. I do have a plan to get a rifle in 7.62x39 that is not an AK and uses AK mags. But, it's not about collect-ability for me at all, it's just about having fun shooting...so that price tag would be hard to justify.
I'd also be interested, but not at that price or the heavy barrel.
