I hurt my lower back after trying to "squat to failure" a few weeks ago.

Yesterday I began from the ground up focusing on perfect form. I am doing ass-to-ground, keeping my core tight and Lower back straight as an arrow.

I squatted 95lbs 3 sets of 5, and honest to goodness I am sore. It wasn't like the weight was heavy, but I could feel it working muscles that I hadn't used before. Definitely going to slowly work up from here and see how it goes.

Is there any negative to ATG squats?
Why do the loudest do the least?

Usually just soreness if you're not used to it. I would do a couple sets with just the bar to get the blood flowing and reinforce motor pattern/form.

I might give that a go today.
It worked for me! I'm very happy with my Squat form now... I'm adding weight or reps every single time I lift now, and getting below parallel.

I do Deadlifts on monday and Squats on friday, as hard as I can both days. Is that enough?

I don't include dead lifts as a leg day. I personally consider it a back workout even though it works your legs and entire body. I focus one day usually Monday on heavy weight low reps for my legs. Exercise includes squats, leg press, lunges, leg extensions, leg curls and hip flexor machine. I keep all reps under 8. Now for Friday I do high reps of the above mentioned exercise for 10-15 reps and my last till failure. Just find out what works for you every body is different.

Awesome! So no problems with knees as long as they are performed correctly?

Understand the difference between soreness and injury and you'll be fine.
