I run a X300U so take this FWIW. On my issued Glock 21, it doesn't line up. On my personal 1911, it doesn't line up. It does light up the target enough that I can align my sights and accurately hit the target and that, for me, is the important part.
Reads a lot, posts little.
Something we noticed in our night shoot was that people were really focused on their light beam and not on what they should be (their sights). This resulted in misses because the sights were not lined up with the light. This is completely a training issue. Using the "flash bulb" technique properly often can mean using the light to ID a target without pointing the gun at them. Your light is not an aiming device, it has no relation to your sights. Learn to use your sights as sights, and your light as an a tool for identification.
