Posting MOS isn't a violation of OPSEC bro, and we don't need to know a lot but general AO and very general idea of probable duties. Otherwise I'm going to assume you're a Special Forces Ranger SEAL that will be fast roping outta C-17s into Waziristan...

You should probably smoke yourself for that gay ass user photo. Also bring some of these to hold the air conditioning vents in your truck open.

Try your hardest to not blow up some poor grunts in the middle of a tic.

Much to my disappointment, the OP has changed his "my first ride in a LMTV" gangsta sign user photo.

He even supervised it's "destruction"... but in typical manner of himself was fooled when my buddy just threw the EMPTY box in the fire and enjoyed his new "tac light" the rest of the deployment.

I swear, there should be a ribbon for not getting caught jacking it the entire deployment. Then again, we had 25 to a room and limited supplies for "Jack Shacks" so we had to be pretty creative.

Stubby, you going to tell us your MOS / Mission, or are we going to assume you'll just be checking CAC cards at the DFAC?
Hey, CAC/contract/weapon/ptbelt checker is a legit MOS.

Heaven forbid we waste a few bucks feeding a TCN, we'd go bankrupt!

Your officer may have been just trying to cover himself. Most officers who don't agree with rules still have to follow and enforce them. Or... "enforce" I should say. There's a fine balance that can be walked... He can't make it too easy or obvious, but he can decide not to take that final step, to let you pull one that fast one that you think he didn't notice. He probably let you. And he can't tell you he's doing that or it'll bite him in the ass.

I can see where you're coming from, but this isn't the guy who's just covering his ass. We're in a COP with 25 dudes in a small town in RC-East, all he had to do was chuckle and go back to writing himself up for awards, like when he completely ignored the 1SG's ridiculously huge stash of porno mags. He was inept at everything and just being a tool... and he had to go completely out of his way to follow the guy (remember, this wasn't mine) to the burn pit and watch him burn it. He was a complete ****tard. If you want further proof, he scored a 13 on the EIB M4 qual. After 8 more attempts (and failures) he finally had someone else shoot his targets to score Expert, only to get disqualified on the first event because he failed day land nav.

Trust me, he was an imbecile.

Now to stay on topic: Q Tips. Seriously, we always had a shortage of them for weapons maintenance...

That's bullshit. I hate officers like that.

Also: good lube like Slip or FireClean.

    I agree.

If you bring fireclean, make sure you keep the red stopper. Just sayin.

    I know some of this has been said, but just to reiterate importance;

Laptop, external hard drive, multiple flashlights w/ spare batteries, definitely bring crocs not flip flops as the retention band for your foot can be very useful, personal hygiene gear and plenty of it (Chapstick, eye drops, tums, aspirin are often overlooked) plenty of tobacco, melatonin for the flight over and the restless nights, and lastly plenty of hand sanitizer.

    I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot but here's a start.

Oh yeah, noise cancelling headphones for the flight. If you have electronic ear pro with an aux input jack, that can work too.
