    is this a real surefire?

I am trying to figure out why this one is so cheap compared to the MSRP and the other sites selling these for at least $400. Is it a knockoff or?

Unfortunately, without more detailed pictures, it is difficult to tell.

Surefire lights have a particular smell to them.

The laser etching is very distinct, when contrasted against the fakes.

I've wanted to save some scratch, but the only way to be positive is to be from an authorized retailer, or a trusted M4C member in the EE.

For what it's worth, Surefire's CS is second to none. I broke a part on a light, and they shipped me a replacement faster than if I had ordered one.

Looks like that price is being listed by a private seller.
My guess, from what I've seen, is that it's stolen government property. I'd skip it.

It's definitely cheaper than what most people sell them for but that doesn't mean it's a knockoff. From the reviews it seems legit. But, you can either take a chance or shop elsewhere. Good luck either way brother.

FYI if the OP hasn't made a buy yet.
There are, as of this posting, 2 of these for sale in the Equipment Exchange, at around the same price:

    And

The advice above is worth exactly what you paid for it.
