    Custom Colt M4 Carbine

The old adage of parts create new guns applies here. I had a Colt barrel I bought here from a member a couple of years back and I pulled it from the carbine I had built and replaced it with a 16" LW SIONICS Melonited midlength barrel.

So I had a spare Colt 6920 barrel and a Colt M4 flat top upper and I decided these parts all needed a home. I purchased a stripped M4 carbine lower from Gunbroker, added some other components I had laying around and this thing suddenly took shape. ACOG isn't staying here. I just threw it on for the moment.

    Upper Receiver Group

    Colt M4 upper
    Colt 6920 barrel
Colt BCG (waiting for NP3 down the road)
    Geissele MKII 13" rail
    Geissele Super Gas Block
    Knight's Armament Micros
    BCM MOD 4 Gunfighter
    Lantac Dragon Muzzle Device

    Lower Receiver Group

    Colt M4 lower
    Geissele G2S trigger
    Vltor A5 lower receiver extension w/ A5H3 buffer/Sprinco spring
Battle Arms Development BAD ASS ST
    Magpul aluminum enhanced trigger guard
Battle Arms Development Enhanced Pin Set
Bravo Company MOD 0 Gunfighter FDE
B5 Systems SOPMOD AOR 1 pattern

I wish I would have built something like this instead of my SPR. I just don't shoot it much, and here in Louisiana, you can barely get over 300 yards.

That's a good looking build, I kinda wanna replace my Rainier barrel with a Sionics and turn my SPR into a more versatile weapon, but college is expensive, so that'll have to wait.

That's an amazing rifle made of spare parts. I'm stunned, as I'm still deciding what to do for a first AR.

Was the gas block pinned, or was it put in place with set screws?

I think the difference is the quality of stuff that occupies your 'stray parts' bin. That would be solid as an intentional build.

When you say "waiting for NP3 down the road" concerning the BCG are you getting one already done or sending the Colt one to get NP3'd?

I am having the bolt, cam pin and carrier NP3'd. We have been using them in the SIONICS rifles for about 2 years. There have been no drawbacks to doing it. It makes the entire BCG easier to clean, and carbon build up on the tail is minimal. The cost is minimal since we do enough volume of stuff.

Becuase of the class teachings and other stuff I always have numerous parts on hand. It also doesn't hurt the components are everywhere.

Not directly related to the rifle itself, but what mount is that on the ACOG? Pure curiosity, I do not think I have ever seen that one before.

You may already know this if you have experience with them, but while cleaning NP3'd parts you have to be careful how abrasive the cleaning object is. I called Robar and was told even something as mild as 0000 steel wool or the old Army green "scratchy pads" were verboten. I use a plastic bore brush and let chemicals work too (i.e. FireClean).
