Yes, I know this. And there is no need to use anything more than a rag or tooth brush.

IG, I read up on NP3 after reading this thread and your response. From the little I gather, there doesn't appear to be any hydrogen embrittlement or anything else negative, imparted on the base part that's treated... Is this something you guys are looking to do or test on your barrel extensions?

I wish I could justify the cost of an ACOG. I want one so bad.

They're so fun if you have a spot to shoot 300-600 or so yards. I'm like you... can not justify one on my budget, but I get to run Pappabear's all the time.

Mine is really great fun from 200-500m (it's the TA31M4RCO on a 14.5" barrel), but unless you really want maximum FOV and ballistic drop reticle for that range, there are just plain better offerings out there IMHO. Still unbeatable for that performance range, but that's about it... the UBR works well for it b/c of the eye relief, but that carbine is a chunky mofo how I have it set up.

The solution for your eye relief problem is the KRAM from Macedon defense. I have posted about this before in the optics thread. It will make you're ACOG much more user friendly.

It's not a question of mount location (it's golden on the last two slots with the TA51 mount in front of the TROY BUIS that live on that carbine), more so that I get the most out of ACOGs feeling like I have my cornea practically up against the ocular lens on the stupid things, so much so that the first time I shot the Table II and III clean on USMC quals I was running it basically touching my eyepro and wound up tearing the side of my nose open and getting blood spatter all over the crappy ICE glasses each shot - but I didn't drop a round for either. Those things flat out run, but it hasn't be a dearth of mounting solutions (come to think of it, I have an LT RCO aft-mount that I need to find and resell that's been disused for years).
