KAC URX 3.1 8" + Daniel Defense Clamp on Gas Block

Tonight I finished up a new upper with a KAC URX 3.1 8" hand guard. The last step was to install the bottom cover of the hand guard, but it would not go on. It looks to me like my Daniel Defense clamp on gas block is slightly interfering, but it is hard to tell. If it is it is very slight on the bottom corners.

This seems like it should be a common combination. Has anybody else had this issue?

It's entirely possible. Most people will not use a clamp on gas block and I suggest you get a good low profile one.

Took off my gas block. Looks like that was the issue.

was the gas block or the screws touching the rail ? i just went through this with an vltor clamp on gas block under an 8.0 urx. only the screw heads were touching on the vltor block so i put a 45 degree angle on the screw heads and it has plenty of clearance now.

On the DD the screws stick off slightly past the block so that might work, but its so slight that I doubt it would make much of a difference.

I have a vltor block too and it is lower profile than the DD, but the bore in the vltor must be tighter because I can't get it on my barrel to test it.

If the Syrac AGB fits... and you have to buy another gas block anyway... it's worth a look.

The thought crossed my mind, but I was afraid it would never come back apart. I manned up and forced it and after a few times on and off it goes on smoothly. Must have been a burr or something.

Unfortunately the Vltor clamped block does not work either. It works until you put the screws in and then the screw heads touch and prevent it from going on.

I might try some button heads. If that does not work I will have to order a low profile block.
