How can I strip off the finish on my 870 express bolt?...haven't found a source in my town for a bead blaster.

Evaporust is a non toxic and super rust remover that sells for about $22/gallon at Harbor Freight or O'Riley's. It will remove gun blue, which is the finish on Expresses. When you remove it from the liquid(use small container), rinse with water and clean it up with fine steel wool. Re-oil. Best technique calls for removing firing pin, its spring, and extractor and spring.

    This stuff is handy.

Jahw, you can smooth up your 870's action without removing finish from the bolt. On its left side, where the ejector contacts the bolt, can be lightly polished with 400 grit sandpaper, which also can be used on the action bars. Hit the top inside of the barrel, and then polish the chamber. You must remove all sandpaper residue before reassembly. Don't forget to lube lightly.

I polished mine with Mother's Mag... No rust in a couple years of reasonably hard use.

I'll be using the mothers, as well. Just wanted to hit certain areas with sand paper
