"Safariland put out a notice of UBL shank breakage, dated in 2005, recalling UBLs made between 2001-02. UBL shanks manufactured correctly after that period all had the date codes stamped on the rear of the shanks between the 3 mounting screw holes while the earlier defective shanks had none. The photo of the broken shank in the M4 link clearly does not have the date code and was one of the defective recalled shanks. During that time frame, one of my traffic officers returned a Raptor shortly after its issue when it broke off of his duty belt when he bumped the holster against the "B" post of his car while pumping gas at the city shops.

The Safariland recall notices are still posted in the range classroom here at the police academy. "

Interesting. I don't know what year mine was made. I believe I purchased it in 2005...never heard about the recall.
