    Question Chip on Bolt?

Does this look like a chip of some sort, because I don't remember seeing this when I first stripped and examined it? Is this normal "wear and tear" and therefore no need to worry--for now? I've only put 710 rounds through my N4RL. Please advise.

Anyone got a picture of one that I can see for comparison purposes?

Its either a chip or nick that was picked up during manufacture...

As long as it don't start to crack it should be OK...but...that is exact spot where lots of bolts break.

Don't mean to scare you...just being honest.

I would keep an eye on it, but wouldn't worry about it.

It doesn't look like a stress-type crack, but rather a slight divot into the sharpish edge of the cam pin hole (looks like there is another one on the opposite side toward the gas rings as well).

If it does worry you, do a complete detailed cleaning of the bolt after each range session and examine the area for cracks. You probably won't see any, even if it is one round away from cracking, but it might make you feel proactive.

If it really bothers you, replace it.
