10mm gelatin test: Reeds' 165 gr and 180 gr Golden Saber

    Link for phones

Reed's 180 gr & 165 gr Golden Saber fired from 4.5" barrel EAA Witness through four layers of denim into calibrated 10% gelatin.

    BB: 585.5 fps, 3.6"

    180 gr results:
    Impact velocity: ~1,211 fps
    Penetration: 14.4"
    Retained weight: 179.6 gr
    Max expansion: 1.058"
    Min expansion: 0.548"
    Neck: 0.5"
    TSC: 1.5" x 7"

    165 gr results:
    Impact velocity: 1,329 fps
    Penetration: over 14.7"
    Retained weight: 164.6 gr
    Max expansion: 0.770"
    Min expansion: 0.586"
    Neck: 0.4"
    TSC: 1" x 8"

I did not get a velocity reading from the 180 gr shot so the velocity figure is from Intercooler's 10mm master sheet found here.

I'm actually impressed they were able to obtain a pistol chambered in 10mm to conduct the test.

Are there three or four models on the market now? Regardless of performance, that speaks volumes.

    Howdy,

As a 10mm owner I wonder when the 9mm crowd with chime in and claim their "Wonder 9" is ALMOST as good as a 10mm.
