    Eye question for the Docs

Not sure if this appropriate or not... If not Mods I apologize.

I have a colleague who went to the clinic today due to her eye being swollen and irritated. She was prescribed prednisolone acetate (drops), cyclopentolate (drops) and Tramadol.
    SS in greater detail-
She was informed her pupil is non –responsive (“stuck”).
She is having what she describes as “migraines” due to the light
She says the underside of her top eye lid is extremely painful and complains that the eye itself is “very painful” (pressurized) and she’s nauseous…
My understanding is she woke up this way, did no strenuous activity prior to onset, and it wasn’t struck by anything. Attended a football “game night” so there was probably ETOH…
Side note(s)- small town clinic and the Doc is a "huge fan” of WebMD (kinda scary) which is why I’m asking the question.
Pink eye has been going around and another individual who works in the same building had to have a “sty” lanced on the underside of her eyelid, last weekend. (coincidence?)
    So my two questions are;
Do you have any thoughts on what this could be (and TX) and any ideas/concerns around contagion?
Thanks in advance for any help you feel like lending!!

    Slab,

There is enough in your colleague's story to raise several red flags. If the doc who saw her was not an ophthalmologist, an urgent visit with an ophthalmologist is imperative. Like now.

    UPDATE for the Docs-

My colleague flew out yesterday morning and saw an Opthamologist. He said her eye had an abrasion which he believes the Doc here may have caused. Apparently the MD touched both of her eyes with some instrument which the specialist poo poo’d for obvious/possible cross contamination, as he was "suspecting shingles" at the time... Her contact lens had “adhered” to her eye, which cut 02 off, and he believes set the stage for her current infection. The meds/dosages she was initially prescribed were “way off” which he adjusted… He was stumped at the “original” diagnosis from the MD, “not sure how he landed there”… She has some minor damage he believes will clear up over the next couple of weeks…

Thanks to both of you for your help and rock solid advice, and she wanted me to pass on her sincere appreciation!!!

Good news. Primary care vs specialty care. I don't know much about eyes but I know enough to know what I don't know.

Same here. Could certainly have been much worse.

That is the scary thing about this cat, loves to "tinker" and has a history of not "referring"...

Thanks again to you and Kiwi57
