Well, there was nothing stopping the bolt carrier from bottom out on the buffer tube, which caused it to bulge out and crack the polymer lower receiver.

After some bad customer service from Bushmaster I purchased a Rock River Arms lower receiver and used that with the Carbon15 upper for a while.

I ended up piecing together a better upper and my gun building craze started. While this was happening, my torn apart Carbon15 was collecting dust in the closet. I ended up buying an ATi Omni, another big ****ing mistake.

It came in with a ****ing hole in the magazine well.

I emailed ATi about this and this is the reply I got:

edit: I just noticed that the buffer tube is shorter as well.

there are different lengths bolt carriers
some are full auto spec, and I think there are 2 other types

are you saying yours was the shorter one on the left
and somehow being shorter made it slam back further?

because I have a old carbon 15 with full length bolt carrier and thousands of rounds through it with no problems

I guess that's not a good picture. Both bolt carriers have buffers behind them. The one on the right is actually shorter. If you look closely you'll see that the bolt carrier is MUCH shorter than the BCM BCG on the left.

I dont understand what your saying now

the one on the right, is the buffer jammed into the bolt carrier?
now that shouldnt happen unless the buffer was some china clone that was made wrong

but the actual length between your 2 bolt carriers shown, like I was saying im pretty sure ive seen 3 lengths of those online

    let me look

ok this is what I remember
    they are same overall length
but its the inside that can be cut differently to trip the full auto sear

so I would think that one on your right is way longer

could that be for those fixed stock ar's

I would try to find out what that is made for, unless it was a mistake from the factory
and if you could just chop off the extra?

Of course bolt carriers are pretty cheap to buy a new one, but maybe you could have your damage repaired for free if it was the wrong length sent

I forgot was your rifle built or bought

I bought my carbon 15 new and the bolt carrier is the same length as all my other brands

Here is a photo with them separated to clearly show the difference between a milspec carrier and buffer, and the one that came in my Carbon15 from the factory.

AR15s with a fixed stock use the same bolt carrier group.

I've been looking, never seen a bolt carrier that short, with that style buffer, with a slightly shorter buffer tube.

It's too short, not too long.

I emailed them and their reply was a link to their rifles page saying that if I'm not satisfied with their Carbon15 I can purchase a different Bushmaster.

This is an older model. The Carbon15 used to be made by Professional Ordnance. This model fell in right after Bushmaster took over Professional Ordnance, but before they redesigned the Carbon15.

oh I see the photo is changed again, and your buffer tube is different too

yeah I have no idea what that is now
I thought the pic I saw before was solid, now I see it can come apart

well if it was bought that way, contact the manufacture
maybe it would be under warranty

I know they had those carbon pistols that had a really short buffer tube, or no tube cant remember
I wonder if that was used in those
then they added that extension for the rifle?

Don't know anything about the Carbon15, but my Noveske Diplomat pistol has a similar BCG and short buffer tube.
