The SF mount benefits from sealant mostly because of how large it is with little thread engagement, making it easy to break loose from low torque.
Agreed - just some odd case where pool weapons (or something that's constantly in and out of an armory with storage limitations) especially with personally owned accessories where tool-less ends up being preferable due to on/off cycles if I had to run an offset mount. That was the only issue I encountered running the VTAC offset mount on an issue weapon, trying to keep track of a 3mm hex key stored with my cleaning kit, which is truthfully quite minor. That said, the stock SF mount ticks all those boxes for me, since I now have the luxury of running them at 12:00, so I run bone stock M300's.

I don't really care for any QD stuff...not on lights, acogs, rmr, or anything...

    That's just my preference though.

    Good points all around.

The potential downsides of a QD mount are mitigated by a quality, relatively light and slim mount that has a locking mechanism preventing it falling off. If I really can't find something that works, I would be fine with getting a HSP mount to attach it directly to the KeyMod handguard, and screw and unscrew if need be.

I mean, plenty of people use things like the Surefire X-Series on their pistols and carbines, and I consider those to be QD, as removing them doesn't involve the use of any tools.
