    How to torque castle nut

I wasn't sure where to put this so I put it here? How do I torque the castle nut when assembling a lower? I have a castle nut wrench but I'm not sure what kind of torque wrench to buy. All I can find is the ratchet style wrenches. What am I missing here? Thanks

    How to torque castle nut

    Not the right sub forum.

What kind of wrench do you have? Some come with a square hole for insertion of a 1/2" torque wrench. That being said and this will piss off the "TDP crowd", I don't use a torque wrench & instead use common sense torque with only an armorers wrench and my arm. Then properly stake the castle nut when done.

I just snug mine up tight. It is recommended that you stake the nut after tightening but I don't I like to take mine apart on occasion and I keep a close eye on mine. I put it all together.

I understand why the military would stake the nut. the end user is not supposed to be taking it apart and if it comes apart someone could die. If you are going to use it like the military and never plan to disassemble it I would probably stake the nut.

Oh I see. I'll have to see if my wrench has the hole in it. If I would have know I would have checked before I bought it. And I'm definitely going to stake it when I'm done. Thanks guys.
