OK, I was referencing this verbiage in your original post for Pic 3:

"The B MP is supposed to represent Bushmaster Metallic Particle Inspected."

I was not sure if you were trying to make a point, but it's there for the Colt as well. Maybe auto-correct did some unsolicited spelling edits unbeknownst to you...

I'm still not tracking. I put supposed to, because it's pretty well established they were only batch testing and there was some doubt about HP testing. That B MP thing was a BM marketing gimmick designed to duplicate Colt barrel markings. "Inspected" was being used to describe what is supposed to be happening.

He's just pointing out that you wrote "metallic" instead of "magnetic".

Thanks for putting that together IG.

If I can make another request along the same lines...it would help to have a barrel comparison in the different types as well. I.E. Government profile, M4 profile, LW profile, bull barrel etc. Mainly in the 16 inch variety since that's likely to be the most encountered type.

I kept looking at it and it didn't click. So yes, it was a simple typo.

Possibly at some point,. I don;t have every variation of a barrel under my roof and I prefer to use pics that I can out together as opposed to stuff from the net.

In the last 6-8 weeks I have removed 4 different muzzle devices for people and in every single case, the weld was so good and the pin was really in there, that I had to sacrifice the MD. This is the same experience that I have others tell me as well.

As for the 14.5" v. 16" debate. I have carried 20" rifles, 14.5" M4 carbines and a variety of stuff I use at home. No one with training can honestly say with a straight face that they are somehow "more efficient" with a little less OAL. Whether it be 3/4" or 1.5" as you stated. Going from 20" down to 14.5" makes sense and I get out. Not just because of the barrel, but the weight and the fact that most people using a stock are using the A2 not a carbine type.

I'm not sure why people think that the pinned MD has to get trashed in the removal process. It's only drilling out a pin. Might have to remove some weld prior.

I've only done one in the past, and it was a total pain. Had to cut it off as well. It was such a pain that i decided not to do any more of them. Haha.
