I was referring to the KAC carbines 14.5" with dimpled barrels (technically not mod 1) that will still be shipped this year. Correct, mod 2 (to the extent 14.5" are called mod2) will not have dimpled barrels. Don't know if those rifles will be out this year even if KAC plans to have them out. I suspect KAC will get the mod 2s (16") out but I'm not holding my breath on a non-dimpled 14.5" (nor am I interested in one).

If there is another run of dimple 14.5" barrels, I bet it would be their last.

I wonder why they would consider ceasing production of the dimpled barrels. Not worth the cost? Or is there technical reasons?

It's my understanding that it's cost and non commercial user feedback about cleaning and corrosion.

We mentioned it on another board. Government user groups have found that the dimpled barrels where tough to clean and in jungle type environments where having issues with rust.
