Safety lever modification to Galil Ace 7.62x39?

Thank you in advance for any input.

I like my big Krebs style AK safety lever on the right side of my rifle....I am right handed.

Can the safety on the Ace be modified to more resemble an AK style safety? Ideally, increase the size of the right side safety and remove the left side thumb safety altogether.

    Hi tagged for interest
How do you like your ace? Which one do you have?
How many rounds and how accurate and reliable?

Like many things mechanical it is possible, given enough time and money.

The problems will be: removing the original safety, fabricating a replacement, making sure the replacement clears and interference points, cutting slots in the receiver for the safety dimples, and reassembling everything.

All of that to recreate a longer RH safety when the original RH and LH safeties both function is dubious, in my opinion. Particularly since you may need to cut a RH slot in the dust cover for the safety since the ACE’s CH slot is on the left side.

Probably much cheaper to just get a old school Galil built up.

Do you already have the Ace? I just love the safety design and consider it a step forward. I'm right handed and love using my right hand thumb to change the selector.
