    Sighting in 14.5 300blk

Hey guys. Been hanging around here for awhile.

This is my first 300 build. I have put test function rounds through it only.

I'm am looking for ideas on sighting in with 147 grain. I'm thinking 25 should be 75. Then I was going to dope for 100. Looking to see if I am on the right track. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    TIA.

If it is an AR, take the upper off and remove the bolt. Place the upper on sand bags. Look thru the barrel and very csrefully center it onto the target, say at 50 yards. Adjust the scope to center on the target. Your first shot wil be on paper.

Both of my 300 BLKs are zeroed for 50 yards. As it turned out I was pleasantly surprised when they were also dead on at 100 yards. This was using two different 110 grain bullets. Your mileage may vary slightly with the 147.

I did some calculation. Not knowing anything about your set up and not being able to find the BC for a 147gr bullet. I used a BC of .400 and a velocity of 2,000 ft/s. I figured 75 would be the best. You'd fall out of supersonic at 600 yards. At 75 you'd be -.9 moa at 100, -5 at 200, and -10.7 at 300. At 100 you'd be -4.4 at 200, and -10 at 300. I can hit anything passed 300 without a bi-pod. If I had more info I'd be more helpful but hope this helps.
