If he is comparing a LaRue vs a KAC RAS, it's like comparing apples to oranges.
One is free-float and the other isn't.

I would choose a KAC URX over the LaRue though. The URX is a better rail, IMO.

Just consider this, as of about 6 to 8 months ago, Ken didn't have the tools to do the URX install. I got him a price from Knights on the tools and from his point of view it wasn't cost effective to spend $600.00 for tools to install a FF rail that he has yet had to do, and probably will be little demand for in the future. I whole heartedly understand he view, and if I were the original poster I would go Larue all the way.

From years of dealing with Larue, I have found his customer service to be right there at the top. Mark's quality is second to none, and when you call you get treated like family.

i have to relay this as second hand knowledge but i trust the source. Another benefit of the LaRue is it's ability to act as a heat sink, pulling heat away from the barrel. Evidently this is accomplished through the mounting technique. yep the hardguard gets warm, but the barrel stays cooler, extending life and improving accuracy.

This is true for any aluminum handguard.

Here's a question to the KAC URX fans.

What makes them a better choice than a LaRue or DD rail in your experience?

I know some people went bat-shit when the URX was released. I'm just not sure what the URX offers that makes it worth the money and hype.

Could be a very good reason...Im simply unaware of it.

As far as I know, one pro is that URX is using its entire upper piece of
handguard as the handguard nut, it's more reliable and easier to mount
an M203 on it. And one con is that it does not have anti-rotation device,
it's using locklite instead, but I could be wrong.
