    Krylon on a 5.56mm Suppressor

I just hit my 5.56mm suppressor with Krylon. It is on an 11.5" SBR.

Assuming I don't do stupid mag dumps, but still do decent amount of shooting through it will it cause any problems? I don't care about the paint looking burnt, flaking off, or anything like that. What I really want to make sure does not happen is the paint melting into a 1000 degree safety hazard that drips off and gets blown around in the wind.

I should've asked about this before painting, but acetone will take it off quickly anyway...

It'll just burn off if anything. It won't melt.

Flat dark earth doesn't seem to be a common color in exhaust manifold paints. Next time around I'll just ceracote it if this ends badly.

I just wanted to make sure it won't melt and cause a safety issue.

Whoops. My bad. I got a terrible habit of assuming everything is still black on these rifles.

    Nice setup btw

I hit mine with a mix of valspar, rustoleum, and krylon. Mine is mostly brown anyway, but it's fine. No molten lava slinging off. Just discolors some. Will hit it with some stripper when I really feel I want to and respray when needed. Wouldn't sweat it.

Try Lauers dura bake that midway sells. Comes in an aerosol can and is supposed to withstand temps in excess of 1000F. I bought some to try on my form 1 suppressor.

This brand has many colors and lasts quite a while. About $13 a can.

I second this. I have not used it on a can but I have used it on a wood stove per my manufacture. They described it kind of like cerakote in that it has a ceramic base that the heat of the stove bakes on. Seems like it may be perfect for a can.

I found some flat tan Rustoleum Grille spray - worked OK, but the StoveBright stuff looks a lot nicer.
