    The Blackout is probably an ounce lighter than a Vortex and with Peltors on I can't hear it ring. The Vortex rings badly.

    They both will produce a tuning fork sound, audible with electronic hearing protection and in recordings. If the prongs were shorter, the ringing would probably be less, but flash suppression capability would probably degrade as well, I'm sure they did not arrive at the length by accident. Not all open prong designs produce the sound, the old duck bill 3 prong, the HK 4 prong, the Steyer FAL 4 prongs all produce either little or no ringing.

    I have USGI, AAC Blackout, and Vortex muzzle devices.

    I prefer the Vortex and might swap out the AACs if I go HALO.
