Yeah, I've never shot a 10 shot group larger than 2 moa out of my ddm4 with it using a 4x scope, yet. Most groups are 1 to 1.5 moa. I get 5 shots in 1 or under, 10 in around 1.5. Gov profile chf c barrel. It's just stoopid accurate stuff.

    I shot 1.25 groups @ 100 yards.

I like it alot. I am going to try hunting with it.

Information request: Speer Gold Dot 223 75 grain

    Hello guys,

I read Molon's excellent post (http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum...Grain-Gold-Dot) about this round.
I'm considering it for my "do-all" round. Does anyone have any data on the expansion threshold? I haven't been able to find any.

    Thanks
    Brad

From what forum members can tell it's right around 1800-1900, or same as the 64gr.

If that figure is true, then this is badass ammo... 1 to 1.5 MOA groups, and from my 18" SPR, expansion out to 400 yards.
Yotes that have been terrorizing the neighbors dogs, calves, and lambs will have much to fear...

You gotta account for a couple things.

    One, reduced muzzle velocity.

Two, rifle bullets STOP acting like rifle bullets and begin to wound like handgun bullets at around 1900fps.

I have used the 64gr gold dot on large hogs to good effect, for what that's worth.

Right, I get that. But a .223 projectile that expands to .4" with ~450 ft lbs of energy is basically like a 9mm+P....which I think is more than capable of dropping a yote at close range. Or a badguy for that matter, with good placement.
