looking for some picatinny rail covers. I've read decent reviews of Troy, Magpul, KAC, etc ...
just wondering what you all think are the best ones.
Thanks

It really depends on what you want out of them. I wanted something very slim to cover a small section in order block a little heat off the gas block and give a good rest for my thumb on my Geissele MK2 rail. I got the Ergo Slimline covers and they're great for that. If, on the other hand, you're looking for something to round the shape of the rail and keep your hand from ever touching metal they would be terrible.
I use mostly the Larue clips
"Air Force / Policeman / Fireman / Man of God / Friend of mine / R.I.P. Steve Lamy"
Magpul XTMs if you want to 'round out' the rail, Larue index clips for a lower profile 'rounding,' or Ergo ladders for just plugging the gaps in the rail and you don't mind heat.
You can also use more than one. I have enhanced XTMs on most of a rail with some ergo ladders in places that may see future expansion.
I like the Magpul XTMs also
Work so hard that one day your signature will be called an autograph.
I like the Larue Clips as well, nice slime profile. I also have the Tango Down SCAR panels on another build, give a nice full round grip, similar to the standard plastic hand guards.

Ergo Slim Rail Covers are pretty sweet. Very low profile.
I used XTMs but switched to rail ladders for a smaller profile. I've got decently big hands and I could grip the rail with XTMs but the lower profile just feels better. I generally shoot with gloves on so the heat isn't as great a factor.
I use a combination of KAC covers, DD ladders and Larue index clips. It depends on the part of the rail I'm covering as well as if I'm covering it for heat protection, rail protection or comfort.
