    Midelngth Evolution

Finally got off my ass and upgraded my midlength to a BCM KMR13 (thanks danieljmaunder) with an added BCM comp (thanks Sean W.)! Apologies in advance for potato-phone pictures.

    Before:

Added ACOG from my 16" carbine:

    After:

The BCM lightweight barrel really shines with this rail. The gun without optic clocks in at just over 6lbs, and the ACOG only adds 9ozs. I got it zeroed yesterday and was hammering 1/4 scale Tac Strike steel at 400 yards with ease.

No, I bought a BCM low profile gas block and swapped it out. I thought about chopping it, but knowing myself I'd probably mess it up (yes, seriously). A close friend of mine works at a LGS so I took it in with the rail, he did all the work and I took him out to lunch.

Looks good, mid length is the way to go. I run H3 buffers in mine.

I'll have to double check later. I 90% sure it's just a standard buffer.

I've also had no problems with cycling - even with soft ammo like 55gr PMC .223

Thanks. My 2nd AR is a 16" carbine. I'm very tempted to trade or sell it for a midlength, but I might keep it just for a 2nd type.

Forgot to verify until now - I'm running a standard weight buffer in the middy.
