    Big Brother

So - was in a hospital waiting room today, and they could somehow block ALL of my shooting sites!!!!
Wi-fi and 3G. Screen said all "weapon" sites were blocked. Interestingly - I could access BladeForums.
    Yep - a religious hospital.

I've had this site blocked in numerous county buildings as well.

I don't understand how they could block access when connected to web via your cell provider's 3G connection. That's not the hospital's network, they can't control it. I guess unless your 3G connection at the time was actually coming from equipment that was installed on the hospital network. Something doesn't add up there.

Their WiFi network is a different matter. They own it and maintain it and can manage traffic how they wish. Last couple hospitals I've been in blocked firearms related sites on their WiFi.

This. There local networks they can control how they wish. But 3G should have been fine. Have known a number of places that would block sites like M4C and others when I went in to eat. Upon leaving I generally make abundantly clear that I will not be returning and will let those I know aware that they do not support the rights of citizens.

Odd, my .mil computer loads this site just fine. You don't want to get caught surfing porn on a government computer though.

OP had to have been on the hospital's wi-fi, not his cell service provider. Sites with certain header labels can be blocked. Google WebSense. It's the most common program for accomplishing that. The hospital where I work blocks all those sites, and others, for certain tiers of employees on their standard network, but not their public wi-fi.
